Our SuccessesThe choir has taken part three times in the BBC/Sainsbury's Choir of the Year competition, and has three times received a PRS Award for Choral Enterprise. In a recent season it was selected for the 'Adopt-a-Composer' scheme (see the Making Music site for details), and the resulting major commission with composer Tim Coker was performed in May 2002, and sections filmed for a LWT TV documentary. Its recognition as one of London's leading smaller choirs was reflected in 1994, when part of one of its BBC Radio 3 broadcasts was selected for Radio 4's Pick of the Week. The choir has sung throughout London, including the Royal Festival Hall, as well as elsewhere in Britain and in Germany. In 1999, the choir was invited to the International Festival of Choral Music at Jihlava in the Czech Republic, where it gave four performances (see pictures of the choir, some overseas, here). Many of the choir's concerts are performed jointly with Finchley Chamber Orchestra, and more recently with Linden Baroque Orchestra, with which it shared a sell-out concert last season. |
