TraQs Consulting was founded in 1991 by a team from Coopers & Lybrand (C&L - now PwC) with expertise in international mobility, systems development, design and communications. Early achievements:
- Developed the first expert system in international remuneration planning, and deployed this system for C&L across 12 countries
- Between 1992 and 1995 developed and launched: the 'Expat Companion' - information for expatriates in a simple-to-use browser-style format; and the 'Relocation Companion' developed in association with Ernst & Young - to help UK companies manage the complexities of domestic and inbound employee relocations
Expat Technology Forum:
- In 1996 TraQs founded ETF, a collaborative research and development group for leading international companies with an enduring interest in global mobility. The Forum started with a group of eight Member companies - Bayer, BP, Burmah Castrol, ICI, Philip Morris, Rolls-Royce, Shell and Standard Chartered - and two ground-breaking projects:
- to measure and benchmark the international mobility management process
- to evaluate, independently, expatriate management software products
- In the summer of 1997, the project outputs were presented at the ETF's first conference at The Meridien on Piccadilly, London.
- 1999 saw the launch of a new Member web-site 'etf-online.com' and a new logo in time for the Forum's first twin-continent conference programme: at The Dorchester on London's Park Lane and at The Town Club off 5th Avenue in New York
- in 2001 delegates gathered in The Hague to discuss 'Managing Global Mobility in the e-business age' at the first ETF Congress (hosted by Shell) - Congress has since been an annual two-day event
Demonstrating thought leadership:
- In 1998, TraQs released the 'Assignment Value' tool, providing Forum Members with a powerful new methodology and toolkit for measuring the 'value' of international assignments - the tool positions assignments in a 'value-triangle' which can be manipulated in 3-dimensions to compare and analyse the value propositions
- A new approach to programme optimisation - the 'Global Mobility Architecture (GMA) Review' - based on the holistic assessment of international mobility needs, strategy and structure - was developed during 2003 and 2004
- 2005 saw the public launch of the EPM 'Expatriate Programme Metrics' survey instrument - developed by a Forum work group during 2001 and first deployed for Members in 2002
- All the Forum's instruments for internal measurement and assessment, and external peer benchmarking, were integrated into one new online tool - 'ImpaQt' - released in 2006
